You can go off a place...
It all stared so well. The Hotel Playa Samil Vigo was as good as last time and the owner was very kind and helpful.
Our cab arrived on a wet Sunday morning and took us to Vigo Urzaiz. We had enough time to buy two Tarjeta Dorada.
These are discount railcards for the over 60s. Then we got singles to A Coruña... this is a port city on the north coast and I've thought it might be interesting for a while.
Engineering works meant we had to change trains at Pontavedra. This was an identical train to the one we left Vigo in. The seat reservations were copied across. UK rail operators please note!
Travel north to Coruña took us through bands of rain and sunshine as we crossed Galicia. It really is beautiful, like a cross between lowland Scotland and Western Ireland.
We arrived on time and took a cab to the hotel. Then things went a bit downhill. This is another convention hotel. It's handy for the ring road, convention centre and other hotels, but rather remote. If I were at a convention in the nearby centre I'd be more than happy.
We got in an Uber to take us to the interesting part of town. Things went much faster down hill... As I got into the car and closed the door (a Tesla) my phone fell out of my pocket.
We drove 20m before we stopped, and after a few minutes of faffing about we found my phone three cars back in the queue. It had only been runover once.
It restarted! It wouldn't take pictures or do much else. We carried on into town. Had a perfunctory look at the Plaza Maria Pita. She warned the Spanish about Drake.
We had a pizza. We came home. I had a beer.
Today we bought a new phone, and the long suffering, and rather beautiful walking buddy, has patiently worked out our itinerary for tomorrow. While I've been transferring one phone into the other.
Tomorrow we're heading towards the heat. Toledo is the destination after a couple of hours on the train to Madrd first. It'll be a city centre hotel with a pool. Then we start exploring Spain again.
New phone = No pix
