Pottering about in Leca
We plan to take our time. Last time we walked from Porto to Santiago, it felt like we did it at a bit of a run.
We had hotels booked all the way through, we were on half-board, so dinner was included along with breakfast.

A sensible approach for a first attempt. But we often left early to beat the afternoon heat and missed breakfasts. The dinners were hit and miss.
This year we're looking two days ahead at the most.
We'd planned today as a rest/acclimatisation day after leaving Porto yesterday.

Our hotel is near the Expo centre in Leca da Palmeria, which is over the bridge and across the port from Matoshinos. Its a good hotel, but a half hour walk to the seafront.

Leca is the kind of place where locals live and walkers pass through. It's a bit inconvenient if youre staying in Matoshinos.
But there are cafes, bars, restaurants, public art, beaches and a good looking tidal pool. Perfect if you want a day away from the hurly-burly of Porto or the main resort.

If the sea hadn't been quite so lively, we might have got our shoulders under the waves. As it was, best viewed from a reasonable distance with a beer.

Tomorrow we press on to Labruge. Thats about 14 k and we have a room booked at
a small, lovely guest house we used last time. I think we have been lucky and had a last-minute cancellation.

After that our next stop should be Povoa da Varzim, or Vila do Conde. It all depends on the weather.
If its bad we get the metro to Povoa, if we want to break the next day yp we might stop at Vila do Conde.
We'll have to see.
