Leca to Labruge

Leca to Labruge
Capela do Boa Nova

We left the hotel about 0900 after a refreshing sleep and headed down to the beach following the route we took yesterday.

Leaving our hotel and saw a call to action!

Passing the lighthouse, we stopped for a coffee, toast and to watch the sea.

Breakfast

Not quite as lively as yesterday, but definitely a presence on todays walk. It was about this time we turned on the GPs so you can see our route in the Relive. Check out Leca to Labruge, 10 k on Relive!

Navigation is really easy on this part of the Camino. The rule is

Keep the sea to your left and take the closest boardwalk parallel to the sea.

We passed the Large Monument to a landing by Pedro IV and 7500 men who defeated an oppressive army and opened the way to a more permissive regime in the 19th Century. At least according to Wikipedia.

The Large Monument

We crossed the bridge over the river Agudela before the rain arrived in a vicious squall.

Agudela river running into the sand

I chickened out and put on my waterproof... but the sun was out in five minutes and 10 minutes after that we arrived in Labruge.

Lunch, sardines for me and pasta for the walking buddy and an hour and a half watching the sea in blazing sunshine.

A decent plate of sardines

We made our way the short distance up the hill to our room for the night.

Is it going to rain enough tomorroow to force us onto the Metro to Pavoa da Varzim... we'll have to see.
