10k to Arcade
An easy day.
There's no such thing.
10k is not very far, a couple of hours max. A leisurely breakfast and a long lunch. Thats the ideal...
But, there were hills on this bit, hills we'd forgotten about since we came this way two years, ago.

We left about 10 am, and grabbed a coffee and a "croissant" in a small, local cafe. The French and Spanish versions of the "croissant" are both pastry based. Where the French version is light and ephemeral, the Spanish version would stand up to custard, and come out well. But I'm getting side-tracked.
We soon found a great pilgrim church on our way out of town.

And followed the clear signs out of town. The climbing started after we passed this pilgrim cross.

We carried on climbing for an hour or so.

After a bit, we sat down and were joined by another Californian, and we chatted our way through the woods into Arcade.

With, once again, brilliant views back along the inlet towards Vigo and beyond.

There were wild flowers aplenty, and a Galician piper.

The path has been improved to keep people off the main road. And in Arcade, it has been moved several streets to the left. This is much quieter, better for walkers and stops the town getting cluttered up.
We also got to see this wayside shrine too.

We arrived at the hotel early, went across the road to a bar for a beer.
After a bit, we got chatting to another Caminonista this time from New York. We had a couple of beers and plan to walk on together for a while tomorrow.
The hotel we're in is good. Decent restaurant, and its open at 1900, an hour before anywhere else. This is a major win for walkers who want to be asleep by 10pm, not choosing starters.
This hotel is close to the beach... on our run through last time, there wasn't time to look around.

Tomorrow, we head off at around 0845 and go to Pontavedra and beyond. Because... there aren't any beds in Pontavedra tomorrow!
In the meantime, once again, the view fom this hotel bedroom window.
